Do we wait OR do we live?!

YOLO

Well, here I am… Super excited…I just hit 8 weeks of solid platelet counts since being off prednisone. It’s always awesome to get those test results in. knowing the medication is doing what it’s suppose to. Knowing my body is playing nice with itself. Knowing I dodged another hospital visit. Each week I let out a massive sigh of relief.

Truth is, no matter how good I’ve been doing, I still get very anxious before blood work. The crazy thing with ITP is, you could be fine one day and not the next and nobody knows why. So it’s not out of the ordinary for me to walk into get bloodwork and then be in the hospital a few hours later. It’s scary, unnerving, worrisome, annoying, shall I continue?! LOL

Eight weeks is amazing… that’s two whole months. They say to be in remission you have to be symptom/relapse free for at least six months. I’m 1/3 of the way there!! Woohoo!!

Here’s how things went thus far:

Diagnosis November 2019 (hospital) Relapsed August 2020 (hospital)

Relapsed October 2020 (treated at home)

Relapsed April 2021 (hospital)

Relapsed July 2021 (treated at home)

So as you can see, I have reason to be concerned that this streak of good platelets could be short lived. It’s also so very easy to live in a bubble, HOWEVER, I’m going to enjoy every good day until then. I’m also going to make a bucket list of items big and small. Things I can do in between relapses and things I can do once I hit remission. I want to start a list. Stay tuned for that next blog entry.

For now, I’ll continue with weekly CBC tests, I’ll continue to spread joy whenever possible, I’ll continue to offer support for my fellow ITPers, I’ll continue to advocate for myself and whoever else may need it BUT most of all… I’ll continue towards learning how to live my best life every day.

I would like to think I’m all sunshine and rainbows but I’m a work in progress everyday. Sometimes you’re the bug and sometimes you’re the windshield LOL I try to be the windshield more often than the bug! LOL Either way… I’m out here trying to do the best that I can with what I have!

Cheers to 8 weeks of stability and hopefully many more! 🙌🏻
