Love on those that love on you!

I’ve learned a lot in the last 18 ½ months since Tim’s death. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that tomorrow is never promised, so it’s important to love on those that love on you. When I look back over the years, I see so many people that I put endless, countless energy into and didn’t get it back in return. Now don’t get me wrong, I was also guilty of not returning energy to people and I’ll be the first to admit that.

When Tim died, I realized who was showing up and who wasn’t. I felt the distance from people that I least expected it from. I’ve made peace with this and have let it go. It's not worth holding on to.. But, I’ve also vowed to only match energy going forward. If you put in the effort, you’ll get it back from me. I’ve learned how important it is to love on the people who love on you. To make time for the people that make time for you. To be there for the people that are there for you. I’m still learning this but I’m certainly trying to apply it to my daily life.

The saying, ‘If they want to, they will’ has never been more true in this next chapter of my life. As humans, we tend to say a lot of things but don’t always act on them. Most of us have been told our entire lives that actions speak louder than words and it’s true through and through. We’ve also heard, if you talk the talk, walk the walk. Don’t just say you’re going to do something, find the follow through and actually do it. Again, I’m a constant work in progress in this department.

One thing I have been better at is loving on the people that love me. Those are the people that deserve our energy, those are the people that show up and those are the people that prove, if you want to, you will. Pretty sure this is my motto for 2025.

"If they want to, they will"

I’ve been fortunate to have a handful of people that have showed me what I mean to them. They’ve showed me love, even on my darkest days. They never gave up on me, they never stopped loving me and they put in the energy and effort.

Life really is too short. We truly don’t know when it will be our time to go. So, there is no sense in putting your energy into those that aren’t reciprocating. We can’t change the things we’ve done in the past, but we can make better choices in the future. We can show up and show out for those that love us.

I challenge you this year to work with me on my healing journey and practice this on your own. Don’t give people the energy that aren’t going to give it back. Don’t stress over the people that aren’t there or choose to not show up. Fill your cup with the positive energy of those that put energy into you. Love on those that love you... they are the ones that truly matter and deserve all your time and energy.
