I’d say it’s about time for a check in! I just did my blood work and for the 7th month in a row my platelets have been STABLE! 🎉
I remember the days when this was just a wish of mine. Where all I wanted was life to go back to before I had ITP. Back to normal. Well… even with stable platelets, life will never go back to how it was. ITP changed me. ITP did something to my soul, something I didn’t know I even needed. It helped me embrace life. The good, the bad, the ugly… I’m here for it. All of it!
One of the best things that ITP has given me are some AMAZING friends. ITP has given me courage to put myself out there and share my story on social media (Instagram to be specific) and let me tell you… the community is STRONG! So many supportive, kind hearted people from ALL walks of life. It’s incredible. Their stories. Their experiences. Their strength. All of them. Fighting. Every. Single. Day. I’m just in awe by most of them! 💜
So, I called this post the good from the bad. Meaning… the good things (friendships) that have come from the bad (ITP). I want to take a moment to share one in particular… I met my friend Adriana on IG about a year ago. She also has ITP and we just instantly connected. It was so amazing. Someone to understand me. Someone to relate to what I was going through. Someone to cheer me up when the ITP blues got me down. Aside from ITP, we had a lot in common! Making friends as an adult can be so hard and sometimes weird. This just came so naturally.
Well after almost a year of being social media friends I said, hey… how weird would it be if we met and went on vacation?! 😂😳😱 She was all about it! Sooooo we planned a trip to San Diego. It was a semi “half way” point for both of us.
Some of our friends thought we were a little crazy… vacation? With someone you’ve never met in person? Are you guys crazy?! I mean… maybe a little 🤪😂 ha! Soooo in March - we did the damn thing and it was so much fun! We discovered that neither of us were 65 year old women (or men haha) and we were in fact, exactly who we said we were. No catfishes here 😂 ha!
ITP is rough… it changes your life. It’s scary and frustrating but had I not been diagnosed with ITP… I wouldn’t have met some of the most amazing people!
I have no doubt in my mind that Adriana and I are going to be lifelong friends. She came into my life at a time I personally so desperately needed it. The good with the bad!
Here are some photos from our super fun trip in San Diego. PS) We’re already planning our next adventure 😉
ITP isn’t so good but the journey has made me thankful for every moment 💜
